特に、通常は義太夫で演じられる櫓の場面において、長唄の新曲を杵屋寛次郎先生に作曲いただいたことは、この作品の大きな特徴であり貴重な試みとなりました。
古典の心を壊さずに、現代に息づく新たな表現を目指したものです。
舞台では、恋を知らぬあどけない娘としての姿から、
吉三郎に会いたさに櫓へ駆け上がるクライマックスまでを踊りました。
梯子を滑りながら必死に登り、櫓の上に到達した瞬間は、まさに「お七」そのものになったような高揚を覚えました。

On stage, I portrayed Ohichi from her innocent youth to the climactic moment when she, mad with love, climbs the tower to ring the bell for her beloved Kichisaburō.
Climbing the ladder, slipping again and again before finally reaching the top, I felt an electrifying sense of truly becoming Ohichi herself.
