傘の扱い一つを取っても単純ではなく、大変に苦労しました。
はんさんの舞は、師匠から受け継いだ振付よりもさらに削ぎ落とされており、その研ぎ澄まされた動きに驚きを覚えました。実際に自分の身体で試みて、初めてそのすごさを理解できた気がします。
静かな舞に緊張感を持たせ続けることは至難の業です。
稽古を始めたころは三味線の間を持て余して焦るばかりでしたが、稽古を重ねるうちに、ただの音として聞こえていたものが、雪の降る音、女の感情を紡ぐ音へと変わっていきました。
結局、私の耳を塞いでいたのは大きすぎる自我だったのだと気づきました。
現代はスピード社会ですから、ゆったりとした舞を長時間見るのは退屈に思われるかもしれません。
けれど、本当に優れた舞であれば、そこには安らぎが宿ります。
私もその境地に少しでも近づけるよう、これからも精進してまいりたいと思います。
Even the simple handling of the umbrella was a profound challenge.
Compared with the choreography I had inherited from my teacher, Han’s movements were pared down even further, embodying a depth that astonished me. Only by attempting it myself did I begin to grasp its essence.
To sustain tension in a dance of stillness is extremely difficult.
At first I grew restless in the pauses of the shamisen, but as I continued practicing, the notes I once heard merely as sound began to transform — into the falling of snow, into the emotions of the woman portrayed.
I realized then that it was my own ego that had been preventing me from truly hearing.
In today’s fast-paced world, a slow and quiet dance may feel difficult to watch.
Yet if the dance is truly profound, it does not bring boredom but peace.
I hope to continue striving toward that realm.
