愛する人に忘れられ、独りで過ごす女が、焦燥と恨み辛みの情念を込めて砧を打ち続ける。
お客様からは「恨み辛みの物語をよく取り上げるね」と言われましたが、実際に地歌舞にはそのような題材が多く見られます。
「忘れられた女」や「枯れた女」に美を見いだす、日本文化の独特の感性。
その複雑さと深さを、これからも追求していきたいと思います。
The story unfolds in an abandoned family estate, now a desolate field.
Amid the cries of insects and the sound of the kinuta carried by the wind, a woman forgotten by her beloved spends her nights alone, striking the cold cloth-beating block.
Her solitude is steeped in sorrow, resentment, and unfulfilled longing.
Some audiences remarked that I often choose stories of bitterness and grief — yet such tales are deeply embedded in Jiuta-mai.
There is a uniquely Japanese aesthetic in finding beauty within the image of the “forgotten woman” or the “withered woman.”
Exploring this cultural sensibility remains a profound source of inspiration for me.
