「蝶々夫人」 – Madama Butterfly

これまでに数度舞わせていただいた「蝶々夫人」。
同じ曲、同じ場面であっても、指揮者や共演者との対話、公演の規模感によって、振付や解釈は毎回少しずつ変化していきました。
I have performed Madama Butterfly several times, yet each occasion brought a new interpretation.
Although the music and scene were the same, the conductor’s perspective, the dialogue with collaborators, and the scale of the performance all influenced my choreography and expression.

描いたのは、恋に心弾むあどけない蝶々さんから、別れを予期して胸に不安がよぎる瞬間まで。
日本の物語でありながら、西洋的な感情表現の強さに、不思議な魅力を感じる作品です。

この軽井沢公演では、美術館の絵画を背景に舞わせていただき、舞台美術とは異なる特別な空間が広がりました。

The dance portrays Butterfly’s innocence as she falls in love, her heart fluttering with joy, and then the shadow of anxiety as she senses impending separation.
It is a Japanese story, yet the intensity of emotion feels distinctively Western, which fascinates me.

In Karuizawa, the performance was held in a museum rather than a concert hall, with paintings as the backdrop, creating a uniquely atmospheric stage.
